There was a tricky thing that came with being allowed to hunt by yourself, especially as new apprentice that was use to being under the paw of some older cat at any given time. When trapped under the watchful gave of his mentor, Stagpaw wanted nothing more than to leave and explore by himself. However, when finally given the morning off after an evening spent battle training and another lesson promised for that evening in the form of a patrol, the young tom was at a loss for what to do. He could finally go hunt and explore by himself, but did he truly want to be alone? No, not really. And that may very well be because he has the choice of weather he could be alone or not or perhaps because he was used to being around other cats, especially in the forest. Either way, he was finding out that exploring the territory by himself did not seem as appealing as it had, say, yesterday.

So, the ginger tom stuck his head into the apprentice den after having eaten and groomed to call out, "Anyone want to go hunting with me?" Well, no cat could say he was afraid of making friends. And it simply made more sense to have a companion when hunting. Stagpaw was good at hunting, don't misunderstand, but he was still new at this and two heads always do better than one. And what if he was to come across something dangerous by himself? That would only turn out bad. No, he would not go by himself. He would wait, head stuck in the den, waiting for someone to answer his call.

Rosepaw rose when she heard the young tom call. They had never met before and she was itching to get out of camp, so what was the harm? Meeting new people was nice, as long as they didn't get too close. She licked her chest a few times before calling out to him. "I'll join you!" She stretched once, letting her long limbs shake out some of the stiffness from her nap.

Stagpaw gave a satisfied nod and pulled out of the den at the she-cat's response. He would introduce himself once she climbed out of the den, he decided, waiting maybe a little impatiently. His paws kneaded the ground as he watched the camp around him wake up and begin their own morning activities. The dawn patrol was leaving, a hunting patrol on their heels. He was ready to go, as well, eager to leave camp now that he had a plan. They would hunt, he'd make a new friend, he'd come back for Sunhigh, then go on the evening patrol.

The young she-cat padded out of the apprentices den a moment later, shaking a tiny bit of moss off of her leg. "I'm Rosepaw, by the way!" She said cheerfully. "Strange we haven't run into each other before." She looked around the camp, somewhat startled at the activity. How long had she slept? Not that it mattered, the prey wasn't going anywhere. "Where would you like to hunt?" She asked, excited at the possibility of making a new friend.

"Stagpaw," he responded curtly, too impatient to give much more than that. Though, she was sort of right about being strange that the cats had not met before. Then again, Midnightclan was a big clan, getting bigger by the day.

As for her question, he actually paused to ponder the thought. He was too preoccupied thinking about hunting that he hadn't actualy thought of where they should go. They could go to the Fallen Oak, but cats always hunted there, and it was more than likely they'd run into another patrol and get roped into doing stupid apprentice things, like cleaning the bedding in the nursery. "Let's go to the odd cave, and hunt on our way there." That way, they could hunt, and do some exploring as well.

What an interesting name! Rosepaw thought to herself. Her paws were itching to get out of camp. She was glad he had picked a place where she hoped there wouldn't be too many cats. The last thing she wanted right now was to be in a large group. Yech. "That sounds great! Lets get going, I'm half starved!" She mewed.
