ooc; Twineheart for Blackpaw. :3

The thing about being an apprentice was that almost everything involved doing a chore of some sort and, more than not, was quite awful. Stagpaw knew why, logically, it was the apprentices stuck caring for the elders and left to change everyone else's bedding. Warriors had everything else to do for the clan and the apprentices needed to learn what it took for the clan to run as well as it did. Still, it felt degrading. If anyone asked him, the apprentices were doing way more than any of the warriors did. Warriors just hunted and patrolled, hanging out with each other. Stagpaw did all of that and more, really. Even if he could understand the logic behind that apprentices having chores, the tom didn't like it.
So, after a morning patrol, followed by rough battle training, Stagpaw decided he could show the clan how important he was to the clan, seeing as everyone else never thanked him for doing the chores he was given. He could make his clan mates realize that he was as strong as them, if not stronger, considering simply how much work apprentices did all of the time. He knew what he had to do. He would catch a snake. And he even knew where he could find one easily, especially in the hot greenleaf sun they would undoubtedly be sunbathing in.
Snake Briars.
The ginger tom approached the place warily, paws passing easily over the leaf litter from the oaks that towered above. The noon sun beat down, though he was thankfully shielded from the harsh glare of light by the trees. He had never been in the Snake Briars, with his mentor or otherwise, and he had heard stories as a kit of cats being lost in the maze. However, determination coursed through his veins. He wasn't a coward, and a warrior probably wouldn't blink twice at the thought of entering the snake infested maze, and Starclan knew he was just as good as any of the warriors.
Stagpaw just needed a moment to examine the place, that's all. He wasn't scared of anything the briars had to offer him. That would be very kit-like of him and he was not a kit.
