Aspenstream padded through the SunsetClan camp, her still damp fur shining in the sunlight. She walked with her head held high -ignoring the stares she often drew- to the apprentices den. "Cinderpaw." She mewed softly. "It's time to get up, we've got a big day ahead of us!" The young warrior backed out of the den and sat near the entrance, grooming herself absentmindedly while waiting for her apprentice.

Cinderpaw raised her head at her mentor's call. "Coming, Aspenstream!" She called, sitting up. She quickly groomed her long, silverish grayish fur. After all, she wanted Aspenstream to get a good first impression.

Cinderpaw hopped out of her nest and lightly padded towards the entrance of the den. Her green eyes roved the camp, searching for Aspenstream, before spotting her near the entrance. She smiled and walked over.

"Good morning," She mewed softly. "What are we doing today?" The silver she-cat st down and waited for her mentor's answer.

Aspenstream gazed at the apprentice with a kind expression when she emerged from the den. She was so eager, it was one of the things Aspenstream missed about being an apprentice, all of the new things you got to learn and how excited you were to learn them. "We're going on a tour of the territory today." She purred to the younger she-cat. "Is there anything in particular you'd like to see first?"

Cinderpaw smiled shyly at Aspenstream. Touring the territory! That sounded great! Aspenstream sounded really nice and sympathetic.

"Nowhere in particular," She purred quietly.. She just hoped she wouldn't get overheated with her long silver gray fur. It was one of the hottest greenleafs the Clans had ever seen, the elders had said.

Cinderpaw tried to control the excitement wrestling in her belly and keep her cool and respectful attitude. Instead she smiled as a way to let out her feelings. When were they going to get going?

Aspenstream grinned at the excited apprentice. Where to start then? If they took a quick swim first they probably wouldn't feel too awful. She had just come back from the island, but another dip in the water certainly couldn't hurt. This greenleaf season had turned out to be one of the worst ones Aspenstream had ever seen. "Alright then, follow me!" She told Cinderpaw, stretching and then padding away at a steady pace. "We'll start with the beach. I hope you're up for a little swim! It's still pretty early so there shouldn't be too many twolegs about."

Cinderpaw gave a shy smile and followed the warrior out of camp. She dropped her smile when she heard where they were going. They reached the beach and Cinderpaw turned to Aspenstream.

"I, uh, don't know how to swim," She muttered awkwardly. She shifted on her feet and stared eargerly at the glistening waves. Should she ask how to? That was what mentors were for anyway, rigjt?

Aspenstream's eyes widened at her apprentices words. A SunsetClan cat ... couldn't swim? She was just an apprentice. but still. She paused and turned to face Cinderpaw, a kind look in her eyes. "Then today will be a swimming lesson too! We'll just change course a bit!" She purred at the younger cat. There were a few really good spots to learn, and Aspenstream knew just where they would go.

Cinderpaw had a flash of annoyance at Aspenstreams astonishment, but she calmed down when she said they would learn. She was excited and wanted to start.

"Great then!" She mewed eagerly. The young cat pranced ahead, her long silver fur swaying. It would be a great chance to cool down, at least, her long fur was making her extremely hot!

"Don't worry, swimming is a lot easier than you think. Plus, you're a SunsetClanner! It's in your blood!" Aspenstream mewed. They padded along in silence for a few minutes, only the occasional panting came from either cat. Finally they reached a slightly secluded spot on the shoreline. "Okay Cinderpaw, come here." She said, waving ehr tail and padding into the water all the way up to her belly. "Do you see that island over there? That's Sunset Island. It's a great little place and the water here is really quite shallow, so this should be the perfect place for your first swimming lesson!"

Cinderpaw smiled. She wasn't even scared of the water… she just had never tried it, so she didn't know if she could do it! She padded up to Aspenstream and waded in along with her, the water sucking at her belly fur in a comfortable way. She flicked her ears as she listened to Aspenstream. "Sunset Island is such a pretty name…" She murmured.
