The black tom slunk across the camp clearing with a content look in his amber set eyes, and a fresh mouse in his jaws. That smile never seemed to fade from his face ever since he was accepted into the clan so many moons ago. He sat down in the shade to escape the Green-Leaf heat as he ate.

Dawnrush walked into camp, carrying a mouse and a vole in her jaws. The rest of the hunting patrol walked behind her, each with more prey in their jaws. Dawnrush and her patrol deposited the fruits of their labor onto the fresh-kill pile. The ginger she-cat then picked up her vole and walked over to a black tom that was busy eating a plump, tasty-looking mouse. Dawnrush set down her vole next to him and sat down.
