Waspwing peeked in to the warm, hazy nursery. He was holding a new-born kit in his mouth. His nervous gaze flicked from the nursery right wall and the left wall. He spotted a nursing queen, Daisyshine. He thought thanks you, oh thank you starclan, there's a queen who can take care of my kit. He set his new-born kit at his paws and gave it a few licks. He looked at the queen with pleading eyes and said," Hello Daisyshine, I need a foster mother for my new-born kit, his mother.... died just a few hours ago". He licked his kit again and he heard a small meow come from it's mouth. He looked up at the queen again and said," can you please take in my kit". He looked at the queen with pleading eyes once more as he waited for the queen to reply to him.

The young tom opened his mouth and meowed at the top of his lungs. He pawed the ground hungrily. He shivered with cold and he meowed more quietly this time. He smelled a yummy drink coming from the right. He wiggled himself hoping to reach the smell. He meowed and waited for another cat to move him more near the smell.

Silvermist looked up when she saw a cat enter the den. Waspwing. Immediately, she sensed that something was wrong. Then she noticed the bundle in the tom's jaws- a little kit.

Her heart immediately went out to the tom when she heard his request, but how could she possibly raise another kit alongside her four?

"I'm sorry, but I can't," she mewed, wrapping a protective tail around her four kits. She hadn't even planned to be a mother to her own kits, let alone someone else's.



Daisyshine padded into the nursery, a vole dangling from her jaws as a treat for either a queen or a couple of older kits. When she heard the conversation unfolding before her, Daisyshine froze, her heart nearly stopping. Silvermist was willing to let that poor kit die. Daisyshine felt her heart shatter, knowing that there was nothing she could do.

but then she realized she could do something. If that selfish she-cat would nurse the kit, Daisyshinr could raise it. Sure, it was a sudden decision, but she knew in her heart it was what had to be done. Daisyshine stepped forward and grasped the kit's fur between her teeth, then placed him gently at Silvermist's belly to suckle.

"Silvermist, if you will nurse him, I'll stay in the den and raise him," Daisyshine mewed, growing immediately fond of the little tom at her paws.

"What's his name?" she asked in a soft voice, turning to face Waspwing.
