Firetooth peeked his head inside the apprentice den whispering softly so he didn't wake up any sleeping apprentices "Dovepaw, Dovepaw are you awake? it's time to start your training" he looked around the den trying to spot his apprentice's pelt among all of the bodies inside the dark warm den Sora

[Sora]

THE DOVE IS ON FIRE

  Dovepaw slowly raised her head out of her nest, with clumps of moss sticking to her fur. Just waking up, she tried to make sense of what was going on.
  "Huh?" She looked at her mentor, who stood at the entrance of her den. "Is it already morning?" Looking past him, she saw cats beginning to crowd around camp in the sun. Shaking her head, she let out a sigh. "I really have to get up.." She said, sleepily. 
    As she stood up, the bits off moss over her fur started to fall off. She quickly aided the process by grooming herself briefly before walking to the entrance of her den. 
    "So what are we learning today?" She asked. This day marked the beginning of her training; the training that would lead to her dream of becoming a warrior. Just the thought of being a warrior woke her up, filling her with excitement. She didn't want to learn how to fight yet- what if she got hurt? Even if they didn't use claws, paws still would hurt. Maybe they'd go hunting, and she could catch the biggest piece of prey any cat had ever seen. Or she could see the territory. So long as she didn't get hurt, it would be fun.

"Well I figured we could go see the territory, maybe get a little swimming practice in and then maybe we could do some hunting practice on the way back to camp, does that sound fun for you?" Firetooth wasn't to eager to try fighting yet, cause of the tight feeling he'd sometimes get, he figured he'd start with something simple and easy, easing into the responsibility of the apprentice and mentor bond that they were slowly beginning to create

   Dovepaw's ears perked up, and her face glowed with excitement. She had never been out of camp, and this was probably what she would have wanted to do first. She had heard great stories of the beach and twoleg place from fellow clan mates, and now she gets to see it all! Very happy with her new mentor Firetooth, she  pushed past him and bounced around in the camp clearing.
    "So when do we leave?" The question practically came out in squeaks, she was so excited. Waiting is not one of her strong suits, especially not in situations like this.

Firetooth grinned in a bit of amusement at his apprentice "well for one you should probably eat something before we leave, but after that we'll head out" he was filled with that sort of energy once, before the chest pains came into his life, though he still had that sort of energy he had to learn to channel it early on in his life

THE DOVE IS ON FIRE

  "Oh, yeah. Woops." Dovepaw then notice the noises coming from her stomach, trying to alert her to it's need for food. She was so focused on her first day that she had completely forgotten. She ran towards the freshkill pile and picked up a fairly well sized mouse and brought it back to Firetooth. 
   She set down the mouse and took a bite out of it. Her mouth watered at the taste of fresh killed prey, something she wasn't able to enjoy for most of her time in the nursery.  "It's really good, oh my StarClan." She grinned and looked up at her mentor. "Thanks for reminding me to eat." She took a few more bites and pushed it towards her mentor. "Have the rest, I'm stuffed."

"hey it's what mentors are for, can't have you starving cause you get to excited" Firetooth teased with a slight wink leaning down when Dovepaw offered the rest of her prey and finishing it in a few quick bites, already he felt like he was going to be a good mentor, sure Whitehare was a great warrior, but when it came to mentoring, at least mentoring Firetooth he could've done better

  "So, uh.. Is there anything I should know about you?" Dovepaw asked. She had been a bit rude to some of her fellow apprentices earlier when she was talking to them, since she barely bothered to get to know them. Dovepaw had always been good at saying the wrong thing to the right person, so she learned from the experience.
    Firetooth seemed like a good warrior. He was already being kind to her, and from what she could tell, he had a good sense of humor. Those were two things she had hoped for in a mentor, along with someone understanding and patient. She still had a while to get to know him, and she was sure he could be both.

Firetooth thought about it a moment "well my mother was a kittypet and my father was a Leafclan tom but I was found by a queen of this clan when I was a kit, when I was an apprentice I was mentor by a battle obsessed tom named Whitehare, we never really got along, though we never fought either, I think he trained me because he knew it'd be good for his image and though he never saw pasted my inability to fight very well I became a hunter I think he's grown at least confident in at the very least, I doubt I'll ever have his respect but he knows I'll always work my hardest to feed my clan and I suppose that's good enough for me"

  "That's certainly a lot. I know you'll be a better mentor than him, I can already tell." She smiled at her mentor. Not really expecting so much at once, she was still processing what he said after she responded. Her mentor had certainly been through a lot, and she respected him for it. but, there was still something she wanted to do.
    "Thanks for the information, I'll remember it. but, can we leave now? I really want to see the territory!" She jumped to her paws and waited for her mentor to do the same as her.

Firetooth stood stretching for a moment before nodding and leading Dovepaw out of camp "is there anything you want to see first? our territory is pretty big, but even so it shouldn't take us very long" he hesitated a moment at a large tree, it's roots were woven loosely together he knew that tree, that was where he had tried to take a haven before Aspenpool had found him in that storm all those moons ago with a brief flick of his ears he kept walking "how about the Tadpole Pool?"

  "Oh yeah! The Tadpole Pool. I've heard a lot about it, let's go see!" She followed behind her mentor, making sure not to step on anything that could injure her paws or startle her. She honestly had no idea what the Tadpole Pool was, but she wanted to sound at least a little competent to her new mentor. It sounded interesting; the elders had told her stories of frogs and tadpoles, and how they grow. So a pool named after them should be interesting to her.
    Making a mental map of everything she say as she went through the territory, she made a mental note of the roots her mentor stopped and stared at for a few seconds. Not really thinking much of it, she quickly put her attention back to other surroundings.

Firetooth nodded "it's a nice place, not something I'm really into myself but a very nice relaxing place good place for catching frogs, obviously" he said as they approached the Pools "personally I don't see the fascination with eating frogs but each cat has their own thing" he grins and shrugs happily

THE DOVE IS ON FIRE

  "I've never seen a frog alive," She really hadn't. This was her first time out of camp, so she'd only ever seen prey stacked on the fresh-kill pile. "This is so awesome!"
   She raced over to the edge of the pool and looked in. She saw a mix of the assumed tadpoles and frogs all around. Not liking what she saw, she turned back to her mentor.
    "They're all so- gross and smiley. I don't want to touch one!" She backed away from the water's edge, obviously upset by the creatures. "They're scary too. Why would anyone eat them? It's worse than crowfood." She smelled the air around the pond quickly, then added "And doesn't smell good either."
    She had only seen the frogs occasionally in the fresh-kill pile, and while they were still fresh, they had dried off under the hot sun. "Can we see some other prey? I need this out of my mind," She mewed.

Firetooh chuckled "don't judge a prey by appearances it might not look good or smell good but sometimes a cat can't be picky, sometimes when prey is short and cats are starving things must be done to survive" Firetooth nudged her with his shoulder "even if it means eating frogs" he added with a wink before leading her away from the pool "come on then"
