Troutkit tumbled out into the clearing, standing in one of the scarce patches of morning sun. He yawned loudly, then looked for his father. He wanted to get to know his father. He knew and loved his mother a lot, but he had never really talked to Thornfur. It was quite early, but his dad had most likely been on a patrol or planned to go on one soon, so he would catch him then.

Thornfur entered the clearing suppressing a yawn. He had been trying to keep himself busy as of late, and it was starting to catch up with him. His sleep was suffering. As the large warrior moved to his usual spot his ear perked. Troutkit was standing in the clearing. How did I miss him? Soon he spotted Sweetkit chasing after her brother, "Come back here! I want to play!" He couldn't help but smirk at his kits. It was nice to see them, since he was keeping himself busy he didn't get to see them as much as he would like. but then again-

Thornfur waited to make eye contact with his kits before motioning them to come over.

"Hey, don't forget about me again!" Hickorykit roared, dashing out of the nursery in pursuit of Troutkit and Sweetkit. He circled around Troutkit, preparing to pounce on his brother, when a familiar pelt caught his eye. Hickorykit rose from his mock hunting crouch and stared at the tom. His head fell to the side as the older cat motioned him to come over. "Thornfur!" Hickorykit cheered, running over towards his father. "Thornfur! Play with us!" the young tom urged, trying to climb onto Thornfur's back.
