The end of a gust of wind (death thread)

Duskrunner had been several sick with greencough. He was moaning as he dragged himself out to the Slopes where he could rest. He coughed and sputtered as he was padded towards the slopes. He was wishing that they had a Medicine cat to help him get well again but, there was none. He groaned as he pulled himself up a small hill. He coughed harshly again as he reached the top. He legs were shaking and he was shivering with sickness. His lungs hurt from coughing and coughing. He glanced up ahead at a clearing, a prefect place to sit. He suddenly couldn't walk another step and he just plopped down where he was. He coughed and sputtered once again. he lay his head down and thought right now, I wish I could join Starclan, yes, no sickness just happiness. A sickly smile broke out across his face at the thought of living in Starclan. He coughed again and after the cough he muttered," I wish I were in Starclan". He suddenly felt very cold and his lungs felt horrible as they ached for air. He eyes got wide as he just came to him he was dying. He opened his mouth trying to suck air in, it wasn't working. He stopped trying. He closed his eyes and thought about his wonderful life, it was filled and happy. He smiled weakly as he saw Starclan cats walk towards him. He smiled and stood up and padded off after them. He stopped for a second and looked back at his dead body and said," Life was good, I couldn't have been happier". He smiled at himself and then padded in to the clouds, or Starclan.

"I wish I were in StarClan. Life was good, and I couldn't have been happier." 

Thrushleap had heard the words as he had been passing up the slope with his friend, Lakepounce. The two cats had challenged each other to a race up the slope, to get rid of the stress piled upon them. 

"I win!" Lakepounce said triumphantly, standing on top of the Slope, waving her tail in victory. Thrushleap smiled and rolled his eyes. 

"Whatever. I let you win," he teased, nudging her. It felt good to both of them; refreshing, even. Thrushleap would've invited Cinderstep along, too, if she was not trapped in the nursery. He hoped she wouldn't mind him taking a little break. 

Both of them perked up at the voice. "Cedarfoot?" guessed Lakepounce. Then the scent wafted over them, and the two of them said together, 

"Duskrunner!" Racing across, they spotted the tom, lying down and unmoving. "Duskrunner!" Thrushleap called again, this time with worry laced in his voice. Hurrying over to the warrior, he crouched down. "How are you?" he asked frantically. Lakepounce jabbed his side with her tail, and pointed in a direction. 

And he saw them. 

The starry cats were striding away from them, and among them was Goldenfox. Then, he realized he had been talking to a corpse, for Duskrunner's spirit was beside Goldenfox. His eyes clouded; he had lost another WhisperClanner, another Clanmate, another comrade, even if he didn't know Duskrunner as well as the others. "I'm sorry," he whispered, calling across. Lakepounce draped a tail over his shoulders, her eyes across the meadows and past the StarClanners. "Rest in peace."
