A thick layer of snow covered SunsetClan's entire territory. As always in leafbare, tensions were high among the Clans, and with Ratstar on her little journey, the beach Clan could be seen as more vulnerable, more willing to give up a piece of territory. They weren't land hunters as it was, so why wouldn't LeafClan want to have a chunk?

That type of mindset gave Lilyfrost a challenge: Should she begin training her new apprentice in hunting, knowing that the Clan desperately needed food, or fighting, knowing that a battle could be looming? The young warrior had chosen fighting. Most apprentices had amazing amounts of energy when they were freshly named, and the battle training would help develop their muscles and bodies as they grew. Lilyfrost had instructed Icepaw to meet her in the large, clear area directly between the water and the camp. They could focus on rockier terrain later in Icepaw's training.

The sun was peaking over the horizon, far behind the camp, opposite the sea. Lilyfrost paced, ignoring the cold with her thick white coat, and waited for Icepaw to show up.

Icepaw left the SunsetClan's camp at a run, she didn't want to be late for her first training session with her new mentor. With the cold wind slicing through her pelt and her paws drumming on the forest floor, she bolted to where Lilyfrost told her to meet with her. Icepaw tripped on a rock and went tumbling forward, landing in a small pool of water.

"Gah!" Icepaw shouted, stumbling out of the water to shake her pelt off. "I can't believe I tripped again!" She grumbled to herself. She loved running through the forest, but she had a habit of getting distracted and tripping on something.

Looking up to the sky to check the time, Icepaw jumped up with a start. "I'm going to be late."

Icepaw burst into the clearing where Lilyfrost was waiting for her. "Sorry I'm late." She meowed, shaking the last bit of water out of her fur.

"You should be. What did you do, go swimming? Get yourself together, Icepaw," Lilyfrost snapped. "You've kept me waiting all this time. I said to come at dawn, and look at that, the sun has already risen over the trees in the distance!" The warrior nodded toward the east, ears flat against her head. "Honestly, could you have gone any slower?" The she-cat huffed and rolled her eyes at her apprentice. She never would've been late to a training session as an apprentice - after all, she was the perfect apprentice, a role model for all others. Lilyfrost was determined to make sure that Icepaw would become the best apprentice of her generation.

"We're starting with fighting. As a SunsetClan cat, you must learn to strike quickly. We taunt our enemies. We frustrate them so they take out all of their anger, which wastes their energy, while we dodge their attacks. We'll skip the taunting for now. I want you to dodge my attacks." Lilyfrost circled her apprentice slowly, watching carefully to ensure that no sudden movements were made. When she was behind the apprentice, she lashed out with a paw, aiming to strike Icepaw's hind leg. "Always stay on your paws," Lilyfrost instructed.

Icepaw leaped forward as soon as she heard her mentor swip, but of course being a new apprentice she judged the time wrong and Lilyfrost caught the top of her paw making her trip. Climbing back to her paws she turned to face her mentor with new found determination in her eyes. "I will get it this time." She hissed, her eyes watching her mentor closely.

Sorry if I'm ever late to replies. Just keep in mind that your character can be in as many threads as you want, so don't hesitate to make some open threads or do some plotting if you get bored of waiting!

Lilyfrost sneered when she tripped her apprentice. What an idiot. Couldn't even dodge the simplest of attacks. "Sure you will," Lilyfrost hissed with a roll of her eyes. She caught the determination in her apprentice's eyes, and decided to circle, circle, circle...

Several minutes passed, and Lilyfrost was still walking around her apprentice. She wanted to see how long she could keep it up before Icepaw did something, and so far, so good. "Well? Unnerved yet?" Lilyfrost asked, voice soft yet antagonistic. There were few things more fun than screwing around with apprentices; kits were too young and too impressionable, but apprentices had opinions and were smarter, but they didn't have the intelligence nor the experience that a warrior had. The majority of apprentices were vulnerable, simply because of how innocent, how ignorant to the world they were.

Finally, she struck. Lilyfrost lunged for her apprentice, aiming to bite the she-cat's ear. It probably wouldn't hurt too badly if it landed, though if Lilyfrost's jaw clamped down and Icepaw moved back too fast, she'd more than likely end up with a torn ear. Oh well. Everyone had to get their first scar at some point.

Icepaw ducked her head in a panic as her mentor lunged, she had grown tired of watching her mentor circle her endlessly and was halfheartedly watching her. Icepaw felt the sting of her mentors teeth on her ear but she didn't dare show that she was hurt. She needed to pay better attention if she ever wanted to get Lilyfrost's approval, her soon to be scar could use as a constant reminder. Icepaw turned her head to face her mentor, making sure to watch her every movement.
