Hunting in The Snow [Lion]

Rustpaw's petite white and ginger tabby form could be found trekking though Whisperclan's snow covered territory. Not an inch of the meadow was left uncovered by thick ice old snow. Making the territory look like a hug and empty canvas. Nothing seemed to stir accept the occasional drift of snow. Overhead the sun tried weakly to part the thick grey clouds which promised even more snow to come. And down below Rustpaw could be found scenting the air, his lips pulled back in an attempt to draw in scents.

At last after what seemed to of been an eternity Rustpaw caught the scent of a vole. Mouth watering the tom stalks forward after the vole which was no where to be seen. After a few moments he pauses his head tilting and his black tipped ears flickering to and fro. Then with a swift leap the tom cat leaps high in the air before diving his fore paws down into the snow. His paws fall through and clutch desperately at the warm body of the vole he'd scented and heard beneath the snow. Sinking his claws deep into the creatures flesh he pulls it with a huff from beneath the snow. Nipping it's neck Rustpaw drops the vole a top the snow, examining his lucky catch. It was terribly scrawny but then again what prey wasn't in this harsh leafbare?

The entire WhisperClan meadow was draped in a beautiful blanket of snow. The tips of tall grasses peeked out shyly, and the few trees that inhabited the territory were bare. The whole place was a beautiful yet blinding white color, save for a small black she-cat pawing around.

Ravenpaw was sniffing around in the whitened territory when she heard a few scuffles. Huh. Following the noise, she spotted her fellow Clanmate, Rustpaw, picking up a vole. Wow! He caught something. Ravenpaw had suspected that she hadn't gotten anything because of her constant coughing and hacking; it was bound to be scaring the prey off. She wanted to talk to him, but didn't want to annoy him with her illness.

"Nice catch!" she exclaimed, stepping out. Smiling at him, she approached the young tom carefully, trying to hold her breath as she felt a cough coming on. "I haven't even caught anything yet!" she said, coughing slightly.

Rustpaw was not prepared for someone to be nearby. He nearly jumped a foot out of his pelt when the cat spoke, spinning around his sky blue gaze wide. His fur which had prickled in his fright smooths back down when he realizes it is only a fellow apprentice. " Oh!" He exclaims, his feathered tail coming around to hug his petite frame just as his mother did when nervous or uncertain. " T-thank you." He says shyly at her compliment, his eyes glancing at his dead catch and back to the she-cat. His black tufted ears however flick back when the she-cat starts to cough. " A-re you... okay?" He stutters concern in his shy gaze, he takes a step towards her unsure what to due. " A-are you s-sick?" he asks worriedly thinking of all the ill and dead cats. The clan had become a death zone and the illness seemed only to get worse.

"No, not right now," Ravenpaw responded, smiling. "What, are you worried? I don't think I'm gonna get it anytime soon, hehe. Uh, why are you nervous?" she asked, drawing closer. Tilting her head, she looked into his eyes. "You're not sick, are you?" It was sad that there were so many dying cats and ill cats; it wasn't even fair that they didn't have a medicine cat to help them out, either. Well, Nightpoppy had come, but it still wasn't the same. She'd rather have her own Clan's cat treat her. If there were a WhisperClan cat. What are we going to do? Theoretically, the whole Clan could be wiped out! She flicked her tail, unsure of what to say. "Feeling good so far?"

Rustpaw blinks his sky blue eyes at her as she speaks. Relieved she wasn't sick, he flickers his feathery tail tip as she inquires if he is worried. He flushes looking to his paws, his shy gaze slowly looking back up. " Shouldn't w-we all be worried?" He mumbles thinking of all the ill cats again made him even more antsy and nervous than before. Shifting his paws and hugging his frame tighter with his tail, he feels his fur heat up at her last words. " I um.... " He stutters ears flickering back shyly. " I d-dunno..." He mumbles. " Maybe it's just all the s-sickness." He lies. He was just a nervous sort of cat until he got to know another.

When Ravenpaw moves closer Rustpaw merely stares shyly up at her. His ears flickering upwards to catch her words once more. " Oh n-no..." He says shaking his head quickly. He stops though when the action makes his head sore. " I am f-fine... I think." He adds a small seed of fear growing in his chest. What if he was sick and didn't know it? Trying not the fret about things out of his control he, loosens his grip on his frame. Trying to act less shy and jittery.

"Well, if you're worried all the time, then how are you supposed to be happy?" asked Ravenpaw, sliding closer. Flicking his shoulder playfully with her tail, she bounced away. "Come on, Rustpaw, live a little! You only have one life, and if you're going to spend it being a worryrat all the time, then you're wasting your time."

When he straightened up, she knew he wasn't fully composed yet. He's just trying to seem confident. Well, that's a step. "Let's run through the snow!" she yowled happily, jumping through the piles. "Let's goooo!"

Rustpaw was taken a back by the question. No one had ever phrased his shy and worrisome personality in such a way. Struggling to find words, he blinks shyly at her. " Oh well u-umm... errr" He stutters having no idea what to say. " I'm n-not sure." He admits sheepishly, his ears flat against his skull. Suddenly he realizes the she-cat had scooted closer to him and her tail was flickering his shoulder. At her words he flushes, watching as she takes off and leaps through piles of snow without a worry in the world beckoning for him to join her. Hesitating he rises to his paws and stands awkwardly for a moment. Then he starts forward on his light paws and pounces into a pile of snow. It flies up around him covering him in icy snow flakes and he chuckles a little. Maybe this wasn't so bad, he thought.
