Lionhearted - we can also make it open, if you want to!
Another glorious evening in TalonClan, Redpaw thought bitterly as she stretched and rolled over on to her other side. She was laying on a wide, flat rock near the edge of TalonClan camp, watching the sun sink lower and lower over the horizon. She had spent another idle day; she still hadn't been taken out for any training sessions despite having received her apprentice name! What were they waiting for? Had she done something wrong? Were they neglecting her on purpose? Redpaw knew her history was mysterious, but she was TalonClan now; there was no reason to treat her any differently from any cat else.
The fluffy red tabby stood up with a discontented sigh, almost blending in with the red sky above, and tried to push these insecurities firmly away. She jumped down from the rock and gave herself another stretch. It felt good to work her muscles in this way, and made her painfully aware of how badly she longed to be exerting herself out in the territory, training, fighting, hunting, swimming, climbing, ANYTHING to make her feel worthwhile. Her legs seemed to quiver with potential energy, energy that was going to waste by just sitting there.
Of course, dwelling on it wasn't going to solve any problems. Redpaw yawned and trotted over to the disgracefully small fresh-kill pile. She cast a discerning eye over it, then turned her nose in the air and sauntered away. She hadn't helped to fill it; she didn't deserve to help empty it. Maybe some cat would get concerned that she wasn't eating and take her on a hunting spree. Well, not that that was the reason she refused to eat; her loyalty to the clan forbid her to do so. She wouldn't dream of in any way infringing upon the Warrior Code, even just trodding on it or slightly bending a rule. No, that was inexcusable, not to mention ungrateful, especially to these cats to whom she owed so much.
She began scraping along the edges of the snow-covered territory. Maybe she could find some grass or a root or some other unoffending herb to eat.
