Twineheart - hello! we could also make this an open thread if you like!
It was midday in the SunsetClan camp. Otterpaw had just returned from his very first dawn patrol. Most of the cats he'd gone with were shuffling off to their dens, murmuring about catching a few z's before going hunting again. but Otterpaw felt wide awake, and couldn't imagine spending such a day snoozing in his nest. Granted, the weather wasn't exactly great - it was cold and snowy, as one would expect during leafbare. It was times like this that made Otterpaw wish his fur was slightly longer and thicker - but he had a feeling that his short, glossy coat would come in handy during swimming training.
The chocolate apprentice began looking around for something to do. He wasn't sure if he could actually leave camp unaccompanied...maybe more moss was needed in some of the dens? He began going around and poking his nose in each, checking to see how things looked inside. At the warriors' den one of the senior warriors gave him a one-eyed glare, so he skedaddled out of that one rather quickly, not wanting to anger any of his superiors. Of course, it then occurred to him that he didn't actually know where the other apprentices got fresh moss, as he'd never been assigned to this particular chore. An exasperated sigh escaped him. Was there nothing useful he could do?!
Otterpaw trotted to the camp entrance and seated himself there with purpose, gazing out into the territory. Maybe he could tag along with whoever went out next....
