What Are YOU Doing Here? (Lunar)

Rainfrost gave a final push, leaping up to the top of the lookout. With a grunt, she clambered over the last bit and looked over TalonClan territory, her breath taken away. This was her first time up, and it was beautiful. She could just make out where the camp was, and she could also spot each other landmark. It was gorgeous; the perfect place to rest and sun herself. With a content purr, the bluish-grey she-cat stretched, and then curled up, her golden eyes closing lazily. Time to have some peaceful time to herself...

For the first time in days, the sun was high in the sky, sharing its warmth with the cats below and warming the pelt of a slender she cat in particular. For her, it had lifted her spirits and made her paws itch to explore - not that the horrid weather had stopped her otherwise. Today would just be more pleasant. Leaping from rock to rock on silent paws, Deertail made quick work of the rocky slopes of Talonclan - feeling the air lift underneath her kinked tail.

This was what she enjoyed - this quiet alone time where she didn't have to worry about pleasing others or tripping over her sentences. Here, alone with her own mind was exciting for the chocolate feline.

Bunching lean muscles, Deertail looked quickly around her, ears drawing back as a bird flew overhead, and then leaped up onto her favourite place around camp. It looked as if she would land with her paws solidly on the rock that spoke of a true talented climber however the moment small paws hit the ground, she shied back with large eyes pinned on a familiar pelt. Throwing her kinked tail out for balance, whiskers and ears drew back as she bounded from the edge to eye her clanmate warily.

Why did she have to be here of all places? 

Couldn't she have one place to call her own?

Rainfrost's ears pricked at the sound of another cat approaching. She lifted her head and saw Doetail. As she did, her sharp golden eyes narrowed, and she stood up. "What are you doing here?" She asked, hospitality etched into her voice. The cat was another she-cat; Rainfrost would have much preferred if it had been a tom.

"What are you doing here?"

Uh oh.

Turquoise eyes locked onto the hostile Talonclanner before her. Though they were both of the same clan, Deertail still felt the panic rise in her throat as the air clouded with a heavy dread. She felt the same way we would have had she stumbled across another clan cat. Ears flattened and she stilled, feeling the other cat stand and eye her with a sharp glare. Why did she have to be here? This was her spot - her place to get away from it all and now - it looked as though she would have to leave it to the paws of another.

"I- I uh..." the young she cat started, ears drawing down at the sound of her uncertain and shy demenor around such a confident cat. "This is... where I always come." While she had spoken, eyes had broken eye contact and they didn't resume as her words filled the air softly. Her fur felt like it were on fire and she just wished they could leave her alone.

Rainfrost continued staring at the she-cat even after she had broken eye contact. The bluish-grey she-cat noticed as her ears fell flat against her skull and how her entire body stiffened. She was acting as though Rainfrost was from an enemy clan; she hadn't meant to scare her that much. Rainfrost flicked her ear in half-amusement and half-annoyance as the other she-cat spoke in a soft and scared tone. "Is that so?" Rainfrost snorted, never breaking eye contact. "Well, so do I. And stop acting so scared for StarClan's sake!" She added in, lashing her tail. "All I did was ask you why you were here!"

"Is that so?"

Please just leave me alone.

"Well, so do I. And stop acting so scared for StarClan's sake! All I did was ask you why you were here!"

While it might seem strange to another cat on why Deertail was so taken aback by this unexpected company, she had no choice but to let the panic rush over her. Not panic due to fear for her life, but in terms of talking, socializing and having to stumble her way through more than a few words. She hated it. Hated the way her fur stuck out, hated the way she had to force eye contact, hated the way her silence as interrupted, hated being embarrassed and most of all, she hated confrontation. Turquoise green eyes locked on the cat before her, her body tensed as if ready to spring away at any moment without warning.

"I-I.. I know." Starclan! What was she meant to say next? Eyeing her clanmate warily, Deerfoot continued on, trying to make the situation better yet not knowing how. "I didn't real-realize."

Rainfrost rolled her eyes, refraining from snorting again. The she-cat seemed to be getting more terrified by the second, her fur all stuck out and her body like a rock. Rainfrost lazily flicked her tail. "I don't believe I know your name. What is it?" She asked, her golden eyes staring into the other she-cat's turquoise ones. She wouldn't tell her own name quite yet; she felt a little bad about scaring the she-cat, but she had to show that she was dominant.

"I don't believe I know your name. What is it?" 

Starclan! She was acting ridiculous and she could see the other thought so too by the hard look she gave her.

C'mon, Deertail. Pull yourself together! 

It all seemed to easy to say however with the embarrassment and discomfort she already felt, it was much harder to do. Pulling her tail around herself, Deertail settled herself from her defensive position to something more relaxed. "My name is Deertail," she answered trying to inflict confidence into her voice. "And you?" Her eyes that had once more been wandering, turned back to her company at this. Though shy, Deertail was extremely loving and caring once you broke through the difficult terrain.

Rainfrost felt a little better once Deertail settled herself into a more relaxed position, and started to act more confident. This is what I want to see when talking to other she-cats. She thought. "Rainfrost." She replied, flicking her tail. Then she cast her golden gaze over TalonClan territory. "Wonderful, is it not?" She asked, but wasn't really expecting an answer. "Especially with all the snow dotted here and there."
