A gray tail swept up swatches of moss. Green eyes watched the slow paced awakening of the Clan. "Doveflight! Morning!" a gray and white tom bounded over from the apprentices den. Following close behind was a slower paced faded gray tabby.
"Well would you look at that! Jaypaw got up early for once! What's the occasion?" She gasped in a teasing tone. Doveflight flicked her son's ear before turning to her daughter. "Wrenpaw, you're not feeling well?" she leaned over to take a sniff. Sickness. She had feared this since the beginning of Leaf-bare. Her kits had been so healthy too. She was a bit shocked; both Wrenpaw and Jaypaw were accustomed to cold weather, having been born so close to Leaf-bare. It just goes to show how even the toughest could fall.
"I'm," Wrenpaw yawned, "fine." but contrary to her words Doveflight could hear wheezing in her chest as the smaller she-cat breathed.
"She's been complaining pretty much all night," Jaypaw scratched his shoulder with his hind leg. "Not to mention all the coughing."
"Shut up yo-" Wrenpaw was interrupted by a forceful cough. The impact caused her to gasp for air, her chest ached and her throat burned. "Okay...I'm not well." she rasped.
"Off to the medicine cats den you go." Doveflight nudged Wrenpaw forward in the right direction and watched as she walked off.
"Good mornin' Doveflight." Bristlepaw walked over to stand beside Jaypaw, bits of moss clung to his bristling fur and his paws were buried in snow, he raised them and it sent up a flurry.
"Ah! Careful, don't get any snow on the dry moss." she blocked the snow from reaching the burrow that held the moss.
"Sorry, sorry." Bristlepaw shook the bits of things that stuck to his pelt off and rolled around in the snow.
Jaypaw used his tail to scoop up and send snow flying in all directions. "Haha!"
