-Tanglepaw-
Even in the bitter and biting cold, there were still chores to do. Despite his motto of 'contribute everday', he had grumbled his way all the way to the elders' den. There weren't any fleas or tics to yank out of their fur, thankfully, but there were still nests that needed to be change. Usually, the tom would start off in the nursery and work his way to the elders' den. Today, he decided to mix things up. It was nearly time for the moon to rise and illuminate the snow, but late was better than never. The nursery would probably have to wait until the morning. The idea made him feel a little pang of regret, but it didn't show outwardly. He couldn't just switch dens now, no he had already ushered one of the elder cats out of their nest so he could pick out the oldest bits and replace it the best he could. Finding proper bedding was getting harder because the snow had engulfed the usually used moss, leaves, and occassional feathers. but a thinner bed was better than a rancid one, espeically with green cough swarming around the clan like angry bees around their hives attacker.
The tom had completed one nest, but it was still cold despite being in the den and having been moving constantly. His thin frame shuddered and he turned to peer back outside. Perhaps if I had some help... His golden eyes narrowed as he searched for one of the faces he had seen in the apprentice den. Naturally, his eyes were pulled toward a black pelted cat, who stood in contrast against the stark white snow. He opened his mouth to call to the cat, but only a wisp of misty air was created as he exhaled. Ahh.. I know her. Her name is... Tanglepaw closed his jaws and furrowed his brow momentarily in thought. It seemed as though ice had poked it's way in to his brain, jabbing out the memory of her name. Ugh. The tortie tom would just have to go right to her instead of shouting Hey you! Can I get some help? For that would most likely be met with quite a few confused stares by the cats that were out. There was a slim chance that the black cat would know that Tanglepaw was just calling to her.
Slowly, he crept out of the elders den and in to the snow. It felt like his paws wanted to fall off. Tanglepaw picked up his pace, high stepping his way to the she-cat. "Hey, I could uh use some help changing some of the bedding in the elders den. Do you mind?" His voice lacked much emotion, other than a little stutter when the wind picked up. Her name... her name is... Aha! His eyes flashed as he remembered, an he could almost claw himself for forgetting, it was so obvious. "I would appreciate it, Blackpaw."
