So Many Questions (OPEN)

A slim figure sat in front of the warriors' den, it's head looking wistfully at the murky sky. Silvercloud was one of the lucky ones in Whisperclan, unaffected by the greencough epidemic. but the thought of it made the grey she-cat glance at the medicine cats' den. Silvercloud figured it would only be a matter of time before she'd get ill, and though it seemed awful, the thought of other cats getting ill seemed far worse.

 

The idea of this brought up a question into her mind: Why was this all happening to begin with? They was hardly any prey, alongside the recent strained relationships with the other Clans. Had the Clans done something to displease Starclan, and this was their punishment? but then again, it was leafbare, likely explaining the lack of food and the greencough. but maybe... it could possibly be a mix of both situations, who knows?

So many questions flooded Silvercloud's head. Meanwhile, her facial expression on the outside looked completely distant, her eyes staring off at what looked to be nothing.

Emberwind spotted a slim, still figure in the distance. The rare cat unaffected by the epidemic that seemed to have claimed the clans. A healthy cat. A cat just like her. Said cat wore distant look upon there face, as if they were thinking about some great issue. An issue most likely correlated to the illness, she figured. Emberwind instantly sympathized with the cat. Many times had she herself pondered over the destruction of the clans.

Should she go over and speak with the cat? Emberwind most certainly needed a friend. All this alone time was beginning to get to her head. but wasn't there was a good reason behind her isolation? Emberwind wanted to survive. She would not let herself fall victim to the illness that threatened to destroy her clan. She would be the last one standing when all the others fell, if it came to it. but this cat. This cat was not hacking, sneezing or wheezing. This cat was healthy.

Deciding that a friendly conversation was well worth the risk, Emberwind padded in to the camp and over in the direction of the warriors den. "Hello, I'm Emberwind! lovely day. Who are you"?

Silvercloud's train of thought was broken at the sound of a voice. When she turned towards the owner, she found herself staring at a she-cat, who looked just as hale and hearty as Silvercloud was. The cat's name escaped her for a second, since she'd only seen her around camp every now and then. but thank Starclan Silvercloud wasn't the only one who was healthy.

"I'm Silvercloud," she replied politely, dipping her head slightly. "Its nice to meet you, Emberwind." She then proceed to glance back up at the sky, tail lashing about slowly. The sky didn't look like it was clearing up anytime soon, and "lovely" wasn't exactly the best way of putting it.

After about a minute of silence, Silvercloud spoke up, a somewhat serious expression on her face.
"So... I see you're not affected by the epidemic."

Emberwind felt a sudden and relatively inexplicable urge to get Silvercloud out of camp. And fast. The illness made no justification to who it claimed. Once it caught you in in it's cold, icy claws, you practically done for. Kit's and elders alike suffered long, agonizing deaths at the paws of Greencough. Even the strongest warrior was susceptible. And although they had just met, Emberwind did not want that kind of fate for Silvercloud.

Emberwind herself had found a temporary home in a set of prickle bushes not far from camp and had been living there ever since the outbreak started. And having been born with a weak immune system, she would not take any chances. "Silvercloud, though relatively healthy should most likely not be living in the camp either" Emberwind figured, whilst thinking of a spare bush to the north of the territory. Emberwind had been to said bush a few times. The area had been abound with hard to find prey, though mostly mice. It was a great place for a cat to live, in every way.

"Silvercloud, I would like to show you something" Emberwind called out, before trotting through the wilted fields. Hopefully Silvercloud would follow her.

Silvercloud watched silently as Emberwind sprinted off towards the fields. Even though she had the slightest feeling of suspicion, Silvercloud assumed it was in Emberwind's best intentions. but she was left wondering why of all cats, was she asking her. Maybe it was the fact that Silvercloud herself wasn't ill, or something she knew about the growing rivalry between the other clans. but the only way she'd find out if she followed Emberwind.

After some hesitation, she hopped down from her spot, soon catching up to the calico. "Lead the way."

Emberwind raced through the forlorn winter fields. She had to get Silvercloud to safety as soon as possible. There was no time to spare. The clans weren't safe anymore. Not with the place of no stars plotting there revenge. A zillion grim thoughts rushed through her head. What if they where really doomed to die? What if this so called Greencough outbreak was really just the Darkforests doing? Something they had put in place to significantly weaken there enemy's defenses before attack... Emberwind dropped down onto her hunches, yowling "STARCLAN WHY HAVE YOU FORSAKEN US" at the cold, icy sky. 

Acutely aware of how insane she must seem, Emberwind stood back up. Now was the time to explain everything to Silvercloud. Before the she cat thought that Emberwind had totally lost it. " You must be wondering, and rightfully so, what this is all about. Let me explain. The dark forest is preparing for a great battle with the clans. Countless innocent lives will be stolen. Great doom will unveil itself. You get the jist. Anyways I have a theory about this "Greencough" outbreak. Seems awfully convenient that it just so happened to fall during a time of great turmoil between the dark forest and the clans, doesn't it...

Silvercloud's mind was already racing with questions, only to have them broken by an ear-splitting screech. When she turned to look, she found Emberwind quickly rising to her feet, clearly angered at Starclan. Silvercloud didn't blame her, since after all, it had seemed like they had turned their back on the clans.

but what the grey she-cat heard next from the calico was beyond comprehension. The Dark Forest preparing for an all-out war? Just how could that be possible? It sounded more like a grandiose fantasy, or perhaps a story told by the elders. but at the same time, it certainly seemed possible, considering the clans' hostilities.

After hearing what Emberwind had to say, about the Dark Forest and her theory on the greencough, there wasn't a doubt in Silvercloud's mind. The two events just had to be connected somehow. She gave Emberwind an understanding glance, with a hint of seriousness.
