Deerfur walked away from the clearing and sat down waiting for moon paw to get here *I can't believe it my first apprentice* she thought to herself sewing with delight *stop it deerfur your acting like a a kit she thought again and patiently waited for moon paw

"Finally, I'm an apprentice now!" Moonpaw thought as he trotted excitedly over to his mentor, Deerfur. "So Deerfur, what are we going to do? Are we gonna invade any other clans?" He didn't know how Deerfur could look so calm, Wasn't she excited?

Deerfur looked at her happy apprentice and laughed "no we can't invade clans its not right to do that follow me and you'll learn more along the way" deerfur wrapped her tail around moonpaw she was trying to act calm but inside deerfur was screaming with joy

Moonpaw looked crestfallen at the fact that he couldn't invade the other clans, as Deerfur wrapped her tail around him he shied away, "uh... I don't really like being touched" he looked apologetically at his mentor. "So, where are we going then?" He asked, hoping he would get to see the territory.

Deerfur looked down and said to herself *great deerfur you've already blown it with your own apprentice* "we are going to the thornbushes" deerfur said in a happy voice "there is plenty of prey in there and I can teach you a few tricks for hunting after that I will show you a bit more of the territory

"aren't thornbushes... kinda thorny?" Moonpaw didn't want to accidentally fall into a bush or something, that would be embarrassing and he didn't want his mentor to think he was stupid. "isn't it kind of dangerous there?" he asked, maybe she would take him somewhere without some scary thorns.

Deerfur looked at her apprentice surprised "didn't your mother ever tell you about the thorn bushes" she paused and then said "there not thorny and there a good place to find prey they are called thorn bushes because it is a big clump of bushes and don't worry I've never heard of a cat falling into a bush and getting stuck deerfur laughed at how ridiculous her apprentice was being

"Oh... I knew that, I was just uh, joking? I mean who falls into bushes!" Moonpaw was a really bad liar and knew if anyone would fall into a bush, it would be him. "ok then, where are these non-thorny thornbushes" His mentor probably thought he was stupid.

Deerfur laughed "well come on then moonpaw follow me" and with that deerfur started walking her way deeper and deeper into leafclan territory until she found her way to the thornbushes making sure to peek and eye on moonpaw the whole way so he didn't get lost "here are the thornbushes" she said looking at a big clump of bushes "sniff around and see if you smell anything

Moonpaw smelled the air, "I think I smell a... mouse? Over there" he points to a large bush nearby and notices the thorns "You said there weren't any thorns here! How am I gonna get the mouse, jump through the bush?" Moonpaw sudders at the thought of all of those thorns stuck in his fur.

Deerfur looked at moon paw seriously and said in a gentle but stern voice "moonpaw your overreacting there is an easy way to get your prey" deerfur showed him by getting low to the ground and putting her paw underneath the bushes were there were no thorns and a mouse apeared from the other side "see now you try"

Moonpaw silently walked over to one of the smaller less thorny bushes, he peered under it and saw a mouse scuttling about under it. he slowly reached a paw in to grab it, but his paw rustled a dead leaf on the ground and the mouse darted away. "Mouse dung! it ran away" Moonpaw was afraid deerfur would get mad at him for missing the mouse.

Deerfur stared at her apprentice for a moment trying to comprehend everything that was happening she walked over to moonpaw and sighed "it happens sometimes but that means one less prey for the clan" deerfur continued "try to be more careful next time and don't russle up leaves

Moonpaw knew he would catch a mouse next time, but now he wanted to take his mentors mind off his failed hunting attempt. "so, can we explore the rest of the territory now?" he asked excitedly "maybe we can shred some invaders! Or maybe we can invade them!"

Deerfur rolled her eyes at her apprentice she liked her apprentice she really did but he was getting a little annoying with all this talk about wanting to kill other clans and invade then deerfur had enough she sternly said and almost yelled at the same time "look moonpaw I told you once before we are not going to shred any other clans now please keep the peace" deerfur walked off back to camp and flicked her tail for moonpaw to follow
