Crucifix, as Sparky and her littermates have heard, is a big, scary meanie cat who has long fangs and claws that will dig into your neck and throat and that he will get us and we got to run away and...
Sparky heard so many stories of this cat who is out to get them that she wasn't as afraid anymore. She was still a bit afraid, but she wouldn't admit it.
"Mom, why do we have to run away? Can't we just talk to Crucifix?" Sparky would receive a long lecture. Boo-hoo. "Mommy, I'm tired! Do we have to keep going?" She would receive a hiss.
Sparky didn't know how this Crucifix could hurt them; they were so far away now, right? but she was wrong.
That fateful, unfortunate day when Crucifix had caught up to them was horrifying! It was all a blur, and they had scattered... and... and.....
"Hello? Fluff? Strike? Sunny? Anyone? Mom?" Sparky yelled at the top of her lungs, which was now even more high-pitched than before. As the two-moon old kit walked aimlessly around, trying to steady her breathing and not shake in fear. Sparky pushed through some bushes, tumbling outward into a clearing, head over heels.
"Oof." The ginger kit sat up and shook out the dirt and leaves in her short pelt, looking around in fear. "Why didn't I listen to mom?" Sparky asked herself. It was all her fault. If she just went along with her mother and not questioned her, everything would have been all right. Now she was lost, and separated from her family.
Sparky stood up and swiveled her ears, listening for anyone in the area. She had to stay strong if she wanted to live, and make new friends if any strange cats were around to help.
