Hunting Patrol! (Maplesap, Lightningpaw, Hailpaw)

[Midnight]

Crescentheart decided that outside the camp entrance was a good place to wait, yet she regretted it. It's too cold! Leaf-bare will be here soon and it's not going to be fun.. She tilted her head to the side, suddenly nostalgic, Sunblaze, Nightgaze, Darkstream, and I were all born in leaf-bare... The she-cat purred at the thought of her littermates. As a strong wind pushed it's way through the territory, Crescentheart's black fur rose and she shook herself out of her thoughts and back to reality.

[Foxpaw]

Hailpaw padded out of the apprentice's den, pausing to lick down a stray tuft of fur. He padded up to Crescentheart, dipping his head politely but not saying a word. His white pelt was fluffed up against the cold.

[kiba]

Lightningpaw bounded after Hailpaw. He leaped at him, hoping to land on the other apprentice and pin him to the ground in a play fight.

[Foxpaw]

Hailpaw let out a surprised cry as the bigger tom landed on him. He wasn't a morning cat at all, and the cold sharpened his mood but he was too mellow to snap at the other apprentice. "Mouse-brain!" he mewed, struggling to throw the other apprentice off.

[kiba]

Lightningpaw purred at the other apprentice. "I'm just having fun. It'll get us warmed up," he mewed, hopping off and cuffing Hailpaw over the ear with his paw.

[Foxpaw]

"True enough," Hailpaw admitted, dipping his head and conceding to the other tom. He circled Lightningpaw, muscles bunched in anticipation.

[kiba]

Lightningpaw purred at the other tom, tail tip twitching. Suddenly he leaped, purposely landing short of the smaller tom. He aimed a swipe at the tom's fore paws, hoping to trip him up a little.

[Foxpaw]

Hailpaw fell over, but it was what he was hoping for. He tried to hook his paws around the Lightningpaw's paws and yanked while still on his back.

Maplesap watched as the two apprentices fought."Well you two are two happy cats today,"Maplesap mewed.

[kiba]

Lightningpaw felt paws wrap around one of his fore paws. He fell forward, but batted at the other tom's face with his other fore paw, hoping to distract him. He glanced and Maplesap and gave her a swish of his tail.

[Midnight]

Crescentheart's tail twitched in amusement at the apprentices' 'battle training'. "Shall we go hunting?" She asked. Crescentheart didn't want to ruin their fun, but they had to get some prey for the Clan soon.

[kiba]

Lightningpaw sat up when Crescentpaw suggested that they hunt. He nodded and bounded into the forest ahead of everyone else. He slowed down when a scent crossed his nose.

[Foxpaw]

Hailpaw followed more slowly behind his clanmates, tail-twitching as he shook dust from his fur. When he looked up, he saw that Lightningpaw had already scented something and slowed down.

[kiba]

Lightningpaw breathed in the air and then turned his head as he saw a squirrel under a beech tree. He lowered himself onto the ground and began to head towards it, his paws light. Suddenly he leaped into the air and landed a whisker away. The squirrel immediately shot up the tree. "Fox-dung," he mewed, tail lashing.

[Midnight]

"It's okay," Crescentheart began, padding up to Lightningpaw, "you'll get the next one!" She blinked and searched.

After a few minutes, the scent of mouse grew strong in the area that Crescentheart was walking around. She tracked the tiny creature, who was eating some seeds, and pounced. "Got it!" Crescentheart mumbled in happiness. She trotted back to her Clanmates and buried the mouse.
