Let's Get This Over With (Golden)

[Midnight]

A sleek MidnightClan warrior padded out of the warriors' den and slid quietly into the apprentices' den. She didn't much feel like annoying all of the apprentices, so she made sure to just jab her paw at Crowpaw and let out a hiss, "get up, we're training."

"Grrr!" Crowpaw muttered angrily and lashed out a black paw when she had jabbed his side and then hissed at him to wake up. He normally wouldn't have minded training, but since it was his mentor who was training him, he wasn't looking forward to it. Some training this will be! He rolled over and ignored her to try to fall back asleep, his ear flicking.

[Midnight]

Nightgaze snarled at the tom as he lashed out at her, and she spit at him, "get up, you lazy furball!" when all he did was roll over. "If you want to be made a warrior someday, you have to train, you little mousebrain! Get off your lazy butt unless you want a punishment." She smirked at the threat she gave to Crowpaw, finding it amusing, and hoping his reaction would reflect that.

"Who cares? I get enough punishment already having to train with you," Crowpaw retorted back with narrowed red eyes, his tail lashing. Why did he have to have a mentor like Nightgaze? There were so many other cats in the clan who would pay attention to him and be impressed by his natural skills, or at least that was how he saw it. Nightgaze had a way of just trying to bring him down all the time.

"As if training a little runt like you is a walk in WhisperClan's meadows." Nightclaw said with a roll of her eyes. This tom may be her nephew, but that didn't stop Nightclaw from disliking him. "Look, let's just go, train, come back, and go our separate ways until tomorrow. After training, it's really useless to talk to each other, as far as I'm concerned. Now follow me." With a flick of her tail, the warrior slid out of the apprentices' den and headed calmly for the camp entrance, padding out of that, and heading for the training clearing. We'll start with battle. Nightclaw decided silently, sliding her claws out and raking them against an oak tree.

“Fine.” Crowpaw muttered crossly with another swish of his tail, “And I’m not a runt!” He rose to his paws to follow, not even pausing to groom his slightly ruffled black fur. The sooner they got done with training, the better, though he just couldn't wait until he wouldn't have to be trained at all. No cat telling him what to do, and no more of Nightgaze all of the time. He padded towards the training clearing with an ear flicking slightly. "Now what are we going to do?"

"You're smaller than me, Tinypaw, so to me, you're a runt." Nightgaze replied curtly. "To answer your question," the black-furred cat mewed after sitting from fixing her claws on the oak bark, "We're doing battle training for now. Whether or not we'll have time for hunting or seeing the territory more, I don't know." With that, Nightgaze bristled her fur and stood in a battle-ready stance. "First of all, claws sheathed at all times. Warrior code there, really. Now, to begin training, I'd like to see what you're made of. Attack me for as long as you can with as much strength as you can without using tooth or claw. I'll be defending the best I can. I guess I'll give you a tip: I'm a better fighter than I am a hunter."

Crowpaw’s neck fur bristled and he suppressed a growl rising in his throat. Tinypaw! He wasn’t a Tinypaw! The black tom was average in size for apprentices of his age, though he thought that he might be stronger than some of the other toms of his height, and it didn’t matter that his mentor was taller than him. He rolled his eyes at her lecture and really would have rather leaped at her unsheathed for the remarks she had continued to make about his size. It wasn’t going to be easy to go along with this training session when his mentor still insisted on being such a grouchy, annoying fox-heart. I hope someone puts ticks in her bedding, he thought with a flick of his ears as he crouched down and glared at her before bounding forward and aiming a leaping blow towards her side.
