A Training We Will Go! {Crewe}

[Foxpaw]

Graywind padded to the apprentice's den, thick gray pelt wet with melted snow. "Pinepaw?" he called, poking his head in, a twinge of nervousness in his belly. Really, FrostClan had hardly been around long enough to most of the mentors to fully grasp the clan traditions, and he was a pretty new warrior himself. It had only been a couple of moons since he and his sister had made there ways hear. All the same, he was sure he could teach the she-cat to fight, if nothing else, and perhaps hunt a bit too. It was his duty to his clan, and he was bound by his honor to help this young apprentice.

Pinepaw was asleep when her mentor poked his head in the den. Very happily asleep, too, dreaming about hunting a rabbit the size of a fox. She stirs slightly as Graywind calls her name, her paws twitching. After a moment, she yawns and rolls over, getting to her feet and stretching. The brown she-cat pads out of the den, blinking and yawning, then sits down and looks at Graywind expectantly. "Are we going training?" she asks, cocking her head. "What are we doing? Where are we going?"

Graywind tipped his own head to the side, blinking uncertainly. "I was thinking we'd do some battle training. I know a good spot," he mewed, still a bit unsure about how the whole mentoring thing went. His fluffy tail flicked at the snow, scattering it a bit.

Pinepaw sneezes as a snowflake lands on her nose, then nods energetically. "Okay! That sounds like fun! Should we go now? Where do we train?" She kneads at the ground with her front paws in excitement, her tail swishing back and forth across the ground, stirring the snow. Excited as she was for her first training session, she could hardly keep still, and the young apprentice looks as if she's about to jump right out of her skin.

Graywind glanced around the camp, golden eyes searching for answers. "Well, you should probably eat first. Just a light meal, a mouse or something," he mewed, brightening and rather proud that he thought of it. "Then we'll leave. I'll lead the way." His own stomach let out a soft rumble, and he smiled sheepishly.

"All right! I'll be fast!" Pinepaw hops to her feet and scampers off to the fresh-kill pile. She snatches a small mouse off the top and retreats a few steps before tearing into it viciously, gulping it down as fast as she can. When she's finished, she buries the bones and hurries back over to Graywind, fur bristling with excitement. "I'm done now! Let's go, let's go!" She lashes her tail eagerly, looking as if she's about to leap out of her pelt. "Where are we going? What are you gonna teach me? Are you an awesome fighter? Will I be an awesome fighter?"

Graywind ate a small vole himself, eyes widening slightly as he watched the she-cat wolf down her prey. He quickly followed suit, finishing in a few quick gulps, nearly choking a couple times. His sister, Summer, snickered as she padded past, and he shot her a slight glare before jumping up just in time for his apprentice to assault him with questions. "Uhh... You'll see, you'll see, I'm amazing, and I'm sure you will be too," he mewed quickly, flicking her lightly with his tail before dashing off with a slightly mischievous grin.

Pinepaw listens to him impatiently, tail lashing back and forth eagerly. She sheathes and unsheathes her claws, digging them into the frozen ground and back out. "You're amazing?" she asks, her eyes widening further. "How amazing? You really think I'll--hey!" She jumps as he flicks her and dashes off. "Wait for me!" she calls, sprinting off after him, eyes sparkling with excitement and tail streaming out behind her.
