Rainpaw had no intention of going to see Webpaw, but then why did she find herself awake. It was the wee hours of morning in Midnightclan, long before dawn would break. And long before she needed t be awake. Not a single cat stirred from their nests. The only noises in the apprentice den were that of gentle breaths and snoring. but these things never usually woke her, no normally it was her nightmares. but alas she'd had no nightmare. No for some unknown reason she'd awoken at the exact time Webpaw had asked her to meet him again. Don't be foolish, She scolds herself. You cannot really be considering.... but she was considering it. Just to make sure he stays out of the territory, she tells herself firmly. If I don't go and I know he is coming wouldn't that be against the code? To not stop his attempts to come over into her territory? Yes that would just be down right wrong! She had to stop him! For the clan of course...

Rising from her nest Rainpaw's dark yellow eyes glance around. but no cats stir to ask what she is doing, so she slips from her nest and out of the den. Outside the grasps of early morning had the camp chilly. Fluffing up her fur Rainpaw quickly exits the camp, her eyes darting here and there. Stop being paranoid! She tells herself. Your not breaking the code! Webpaw is! She holds back a snort as she enters the territory's dense underbrush. Her paws angled towards the river, silver tabby coat just visible in the star's light when she entered a clear patch of ground. Else wise her body seemed to melt into the shadows, her wiry coat aiding her in avoiding the grasp of passing brambles or thorns.  It didn't take the small stocky she-cat long to reach the river. Once there however she wasn't sure were the tom would cross from. Would he attempt the same path as last time? Or something different? Was he really coming? Or had he just been joking?

Part of Rainpaw wanted this whole thing to be a joke. but part of her wanted to see the splotched apprentice again. Don't think like that, she growls at herself. Your Midnightclan and he... he is a fishy Stormclan mousebrain! Lashing her short tail, Rainpaw starts to pad along the river. Her dark yellow eyes narrowing as she strains to see across its depths and onto the Stormclan shore. All the while she kept her fur fluffed against the bone chilling breeze that came barreling off the roaring river's choppy surface. This is probably the stupidest thing you've ever done, She thinks to herself. He's not even here! And now I'm cold and alone... when I could be in my nest sleeping like a normal apprentice. Huffing out loud Rainpaw stops walking and stares out across the river for a last time. The moon's iridescent glow lighting up the silver bits of her fur and making them shimmer.

The StormClan camp had gone into slumber very late at night, but Webpaw had feigned early sleepiness just so he could get extra rest before waking up hours before dawn would break over the Clan territories. Even as his denmates settled in for the nights, he still wasn't fully asleep, his mind whirling with so many thoughts. Will she come? She must think I was joking... but I really...really want to see her again. Her sweet scent seemed to linger in his nose, making the splotched apprentice twitch in restless discomfort.

"Watch it!" Silverpaw's sleepy hiss reached Webpaw's half-listening ears, before drifting off into light snoring again.

I should be sleeping way before you! Webpaw scowled, envious of his friend's ability to fall asleep quickly. but then again, Silverpaw didn't have any she-cat on his mind to keep awake long enough. No one except his own sister, though that was something else. Webpaw tucked his nose underneath his black-tipped tail, imagining the encounter with the owner of that lovely scent. Rainpaw... Her short and curly tabby pelt, with bits of silver that glowed beautifully in the faint rays of morning. Her small but stocky build.. Her petite but strong features.. Those delicate yellow orbs of sight.. Even the neat claws that tore the skin and flesh on his muzzle; it had been painful, but the medicine cats assured him it wouldn't get infected, only leave a scar. Rainpaw's scent seemed to drift around him again, and slowly but surely, Webpaw's eyes started to droop. Please be there... He prayed silently, hoping StarClan would side with him that day.

When Webpaw awoke again, it was still dark, and he worried he hadn't slept long enough to immediately go out to the river. He stealthily picked his way out to the clearing, joyous that the air was damp with early morning mist. There was ways to go before dawn arrived; with an excited swish of his tail, Webpaw let his blacks paws carry him straight out the camp entrance - narrowly avoiding a sleepy guard - and towards the river where his fateful encounter had been.

"Please be there!" he panted, leaping over bushes and diving underneath fallen trees in his path. "I wasn't joking about meeting..."

The soft bubbling of the river had reached his ears. Webpaw put on a burst of his speed, apprehension and a sense of longing lending him energy to sprint the remaining stretch of grass and shrubs. He leapt out the shrubline and onto the pebbly bank, sides heaving slightly for breath, blue eyes scanning the opposite bank and its forests for signs of the MidnightClan apprentice whose scent kept him in the best of dreams. His heart sank when he caught no such figure, and, for a moment, Webpaw felt anger and shame.

Of course she wouldn't come! She saw me as nothing but a fool! He unsheathed his claws, curling them into the clacking stones underneath his paw pads, ears flat against his head as eyes narrowed and glared at the river water. A fool...who was going to break the warrior code over a scent that calmed him. The StormClan apprentice felt his chest tighten. Was this really how it'd play out in the end? He'd be rejected, but in such a fool-worthy way? Typical MidnightClan...

Webpaw considered going back to camp...yet his legs refused to turn, instead still facing the river. She will come. He snapped his head up to the Platform, the lone big stone that sat in the middle of the river that formed the border between StormClan and MidnightClan. Maybe if he waited there, Rainpaw would see him more easily, without him needing to step foot on her territory like the last time. With a resolute nod, he stepped forward and launched himself onto the big rock, gasping in agitated shock at the scrape of claws against the slick surface. The brief scrabbling of paws led him up onto the top of the Platform, where he sat alone, muzzle raised to the indigo sky, cherishing the misty and cool air.

It seemed like ages before a change in the air broke Webpaw's quiet reverie of nature. He opened his blue eyes to the warriors of StarClan, wondering if they were making this a dream just to ease his mind, and for a moment, he believed it was just simply a dream he hadn't woken up from, and he heaved a heavy sigh. So much wishing... Yet, as his eyes scanned the MidnightClan side of the river, his heart fluttered in delight at the sight of a tabby figure staring towards his direction, moonlight illuminating her pelt into a lovely silver glow.

His voice came out as a purr and a sigh of relief, "You came."

Webpaw was too far away for Rainpaw to hear across the river. but luckily for him, she had taken a last sweeping look of the river for him. At first she thought she saw nothing, only river, rock and shadows. but when she looked closer she saw something, something moving on the platform. Taking a few paw steps forward so the icy river water licked her toes, she strains to see the whitish figure in the dark. Were her eyes playing tricks? Or was that really him?

" Webpaw?" She calls out, her gaze narrowed as she looked out at the platform. but her voice was too quite to be heard. " Webpaw? Is that you?" She calls again, this time raising her voice so it would be heard over the roar of the river. Retracting her toes from the river's icy grasp she shivers again. Ready at this point to just turn back and go home, to dismiss what tricks her eyes played on her and return to the warmth of her nest. but something made her stop, something made her stay frozen in place, to wait for a minute. To see of this whitish figure was really a cat or just some figment of her imagination. It better be him, she thought her tail flickering irritably. I don't want to of waited out here for nothing.... " Webpaw you dolt if your there you better say something! Cause I didn't come out here to freeze my tail off for nothing!" She hisses, her dark yellow eyes gleaming in the starlight. She then falls silent and listens carefully for a voice, any voice at all. Who knew perhaps what she was seeing was merely a lightly colored rock or a bird of some sort.

but what if its not? A little voice in the back of her skull whispered.

The StormClan apprentice was too filled with joy at seeing Rainpaw to keep still. His tail was high, the fur fluffed out against cold AND anticipation of what the morning would bring. She came! Oh, StarClan, thank you, thank you, THANK YOU! This was only the second time he was seeing Rainpaw...in the waking world. In the world of his dreams, Rainpaw's lovely scent lulled him into security, bringing a smile to his face as the dream-Rainpaw and him played like kits in the reed bed, where Rainpaw continuously pinned down on the wet sand and pebbles, her teeth bared in one of the most playful snarls he'd ever seen.

He had gone limp in defeat, their laughter pulsing through the air like merry music of happier daily lives of the Clans. Then Webpaw had woken up just then, afraid he was too early, as mentioned before, but delighting that he was right on time. Does she know how to take a compliment yet? He gave a purr as he stood up on the Platform, ready for his dream to be a reality in some way. He was utterly confused when the silver tabby stepped away from the river once more, her toes dripping with water while her tail flicked irritably. Why wasn't she coming over? Had...Had she brought a patrol to confront him? She can't betray me like that!

"Rainpaw, I'm here! Come over!" he called out as loud as he dared. "The water's fine! You just have to jump on here!"

He hoped she heard him; Rainpaw seemed like she wanted to go back to camp, and that made Webpaw panic deep in the pits of his stomach. No! They couldn't let the chance waste away when they'd come this far out of camp to their border together in such early morning darkness! Rainpaw, I'm right here! Look at me being a dolt! Webpaw, willing to sacrifice dignity for this moment, raced to the MidnightClan edge of the Platform. And, without much more hesitation, began hopping up and down on the flat stone, tail flapping ridiculously in every direction.

As he hopped, he called out again, a little more teasingly. "Get over here! I'm not being a dolt for nothing, you know!" He felt like putting a paw to his face in embarrassment. Was he really doing all this just to get the she-cat's attention? Of course! Especially if StarClan seemed to permit their meeting this morning. Webpaw bounced even more enthusiastically. "Rainpaaaaaw! It's me! Webpaw! The dolt whose muzzle you sliced yesterday morning! Get over- wagh!"

Webpaw had hopped 'til one of his paws went right over the edge. With a squeak, he fell forwards in a clumsy tumble, splashing into the river water below with eyes that widened in comical terror and surprise. Churning his paws in random directions, the white-grey tom broke his head out of the surface, taking a shocked gasp of air. Well, she'll definitely call me a dolt now. He rolled his eyes as he clambered onto the MidnightClan side of the bank, then proceeded to shake out his sodden fur.

When he was done, he smiled a sheepish smile at the indignant silver tabby apprentice, whose dark yellow eyes looked like it could fire up his fur at any moment. "I'm glad you came, Rainstorm."

If Rainpaw hadn't been sure about whether or not the splotched figure was Webpaw. She sure was now. For not a minute after her shout she thought she heard something echo over the roar of the river. Blinking her dark yellow gaze, she squints lifting onto her hind paws to get a closer look. And that is when she saw him for real, and for sure. How could she miss him? The foolish tom was leaping around on the platform like some sort of deranged animal. Calling out some words she could just make out. Rainpaw rolls her eyes, " You mousebrained fool!" She calls back, " Your going to...." Her words however are cut short when the tom does exactly what she thought he would. He fell with a splash into the river. Rainpaw's eyes widen, before she remembers that the tom was Stormclan.

That however doesn't stop her from waiting with baited breath for him to surface. Not that she realized she had held in her breath until after his head breached the river's surface. " Webpaw for starclan's sake!" She growls as the tom swims over and climbs up onto Midnightclan's bank. She drops to all fours, and trots right up to him. Raising a brown tinted paw she cuffs the tom hard over the ear, ignoring his words and glowering at him haughtily. " Are you serious?" She hisses, her pelt prickled. " You could of died! " She says examining the splotched warrior for signs of injury. " Worse yet you could of gotten us caught...." She adds then flickers her short tail in irratation. " You ginormous dolt!" She finishes, satisfied that he wasn't hurt she backs away a few paces. " And don't think I came cause you asked...." She says, her mangled jaw held loftily in the air. " I came to make sure you didn't stomp through my territory like an angry badger again." She says scoffing at him. but deep down, under all her glowering and sharp tongued words. Rainpaw was happy to see Webpaw. Not that she would admit that... no not in a million life times.

One could imagine how this splotched tom changed from flustered and annoyed to relieved and delighted when he saw Rainpaw approaching him, her distinct mangled jaw pressed tightly in her usual manner of irritation and exasperation. This was only their second meeting but already was the StormClan apprentice so infatuated with the silver tabby, to the point he'd notice the littlest things about her that she herself might not have noticed. The purr of joy was also because Rainpaw was there. She had come to their agreed meeting spot. Surely she felt the same elation as Webpaw?

Oh, Webpaw, you silly furball. In no time at all since that thought, the tom had his ear cuffed by the smaller feline, leaving his head buzzing from the contact. Wow, to think you're smaller than me... He pawed at his head for a few moments, half-whining about not being able to hear prey or patrol with the noise in his ear. but it was in good humour. He breathed in Rainpaw's sweet scent, one that seeped from her pelt underneath all that MidnightClan reek, and he felt at peace again, as if he was in his dreams... Oh, was she concerned about his safety?

"Awww, you were worried about me? That's so sweet...just like your lovely scent," he purred, taking slow steps around her, his black-tipped tail held high in a body language of friendliness. "I'm sure a fearsome MidnightClanner such as yourself can scare away even the most steadfast of spies."

Should have thought about being caught. Webpaw's ears flicked in nervous thought. If he went on with this, to the point...well, that...what if he got caught? What would Goldenstar say, or worse, do? What about his family, and his friend Silverpaw? What will they think? If he got exiled...where would he go? Turn rogue? No.. No, he had known StormClan all his life so far, trained so hard to defend. And with the feeling of his warrior ceremony coming soon, it was all too much to let it be marred by this forbidden relationship...

Which is why I won't let it be discovered. I'll protect it. Webpaw's blue eyes hardened in resolution as he stood shoulder to shoulder with the silver tabby she-cat, his tail hanging over somewhat protectively. He could make this work. He just had to know how. He would need Rainpaw.. The tom took a deep breath, letting her scent bathe his tongue again. Her calling him a dolt felt more of an affectionate term than an insult; he felt honoured to be in that position, and for that brief moment, he had this urge to intertwine his tail with hers.

"If an angry badger did happen to be stomping around your territory, I'd probably have stayed on my side of the river, just so it wouldn't claw my face off. You did imply yesterday that my pretty face was my only asset," he meowed jokingly, lightly, his voice soft in the gentle breeze of the cool morning.

The joke reminded them both that he now bore permanent scars on his muzzle, from the small scuffle they had the previous morning that had led up to this second meet. Webpaw had had little trouble convincing his Clanmates about his injury, though Silverpaw and Lightningflame had thrown him the most 'Are you serious?' looks ever. Of course, he got patched up, but that was all - he would have these scars for life, though he still looked rather dashing. Says myself. Hehehehe... 

Webpaw finished a circle around the MidnightClan apprentice, his white pelt and blue eyes bright in the dim-lit hours of morning. He gazed into Rainpaw's fierce yellow oculars. I wonder what you think of me. Do you share my feelings? Did she? He could feel his heart begin to flutter at the thought. If she did return his feelings, then maybe...maybe... He lost his train of thought again. Darn it. Hoping to gather his thoughts, he scuffed the ground with one of his black paws. Okay, he should just admit it.

He looked back at up her. "I'm glad you came. I...missed you."

Rainpaw couldn't help but wish that the cuff over the head she'd given Webpaw might of knocked some sense into his skull. but she was sadly mistaken, cause not even a minute later he was up on his paws walking around her. His tail held in the air, as he looked at her like some love sick puppy. She stands before him turning so that her face followed his as he walked around her. Her dark yellow gaze watching the splotched tom's every movement. Her rounded ears flickering to catch his words which make her nose wrinkle with indigence. She snorts, her short tail held over her back mangled jaw still raised in the air as she watches him. " Please!" She snorts rolling her eyes, " I was not worried about you! I simply didn't want to witness some mousebrained apprentice drown!" She says huffing at him, and growling a little. Trying very hard and failing to cover up the fact she had been worried, that she had cared what happened. Why she could not figure out. Cause the tom drove her absolutely mental by his sheer existence.

At mention of her being strong enough to scare off any intruder, she flickers her tail. " Well of course." She says quite proudly. " Midnightclanners don't have fish for brains. Like some cats do..." She adds, unable to resist the last bit her eyes gleaming in the light from the silverpelt. The stars twinkling off her silver fur, and catching in her dark gaze causing it to sparkle like electricity. Making that feisty gleam in her gaze burn like fire as she watched his every move.
Then the tom falls silent a moment and she opens her maw to speak, only to find him scooting in beside her. His splotched pelt brushing her curly one, as he lay his tail across her shoulders. Rainpaw hadn't expected this, she stiffens and ducks out from the cover of his tail. Glaring at him, " What do you think your doing? You dolt!" She snaps, swatting at his ears again with a brown tinted paw. The nerve of this Stormclanner! She thought snorting again and lashing her tail a bit. but in all honesty what had angered her the most was the odd sensation of warmth that had enveloped her when the tom had laid his tail around her stocky shoulders. The tingling which had shot up her paws, just in the brief moment. What is wrong with me! She thought disgusted with herself. He is the enemy! but was he really?

Suddenly his words catch her attention, and she glares into his eyes as intensely as she could. She might not be able to control these odd sensations he caused but she sure as hell wasn't going to let him know they existed. Scoffing at his words, she fluffs up her fur some. " Yeah it is." She says dark gaze narrowed. " And you should be more concerned with me than a badger clawing it off." She says, though a smallest of smirks can be seen in the moon's glimmer by the glinting of her teeth. Then the splotched tom started moving again and so did she. Keeping her face towards him at all times, as he circled about her making her feel a tad sea sick. Her skull tilts some as he scuffs the ground, and speaks. His words causing her to roll her eyes once more. but again those odd involuntary sensations followed the toms words. " Your the first tom I've ever met that enjoys being insulted." She mews, trying to keep her voice haughty and snippy. but unable to keep out the smallest hint of humor. " but if you miss that..." She shrugs her shoulders, letting out another exasperated breath. Why did his blue gaze have to be so endearing? Just to torture her? To dangle something unattainable in her face? Whatever it was she felt the need to give starclan a few choice words.

Silently, the senses abandon their defences...~

Still stubborn. Still feisty. Still lovable in that strange way that only Webpaw seemed to be able to see. Our StormClan tom was definitely in this odd trance that many have called 'love', and it reined in him so much, so hard, so quickly, like a torrential rainstorm that continually pushed him forward or backward into the nearest shelter he could find. Only it wasn't cold to the bone; it was warm, endearing...like a mother's love, a father's protection. They equaled into one melded being, one melded feeling. Rainpaw was the manifestation of it now.

So it was naturally hurtful for him when she pulled away from the rather accidental embrace of his tail, her yellow eyes ablaze with fury at his startled sky blue ones. I didn't mean to- Well... His mind raced, as he completed his circle around her, leading to that paw scuffing the ground thoughtfully, before those words were quiet breaths of relief from his muzzle. He was a little shy, awkward, now that she had jerked away, but something in her eyes, her voice...the way she carried herself... The splotched tom didn't say anything more. He didn't want another lash to the heart. Did love really hurt in such a way? How silly he must be, to fall in love so easily, in two or three days... Oh my, he didn't even remember when he first caught Rainpaw's lulling scent! It feels so long ago. I wonder... I wonder...

"You're the first tom I've ever met that enjoys being insulted," the tabby spoke, her voice a mask of slight disdain, but the faintest hint of humour lacing it - she didn't fully mean her scathing words, perhaps. "but if you miss that..."

The tom lifted his head, staring up at the stars that scattered across the onyx pelt of the sky, a thousand, a million friends accompanying the near-full moon. There were no clouds. Even if there were, they thin wisps, like smoke from the strange Twoleg wood piles he had seen a while back; those wisps of cloud never went across the moon - they floated around it, leaving its surface be. Tilting his head, Webpaw let his blue gaze travel back to the Platform, a lone monolith in the moonlight of the morning. Without a word to Rainpaw, he bounded over to the riverbank, studying its distance from the side of the landform, then, with practised ease, leapt onto it, a little neater than the last.

He sat down on its edge, blinking his eyes at the bewildered she-cat. "Come up here, I wanna show you something... I'm ready to catch you in case you slip and...y'know, water..."

Webpaw, what are you doing?

What my heart wants. The white-and-grey tom answered his own thoughts as he moved to give Rainpaw room to jump. He was pretty sure MidnightClan cats were...decent jumpers. Sure, they couldn't swim as well as StormClan and SunsetClan, and they were not as definitive a climber as LeafClan, but they could jump, right? Right...? No, they probably couldn't. He internally groaned. Rainpaw might need his aid despite her potential protests.

"We don't have all morning, Ms. Feisty Fur," he smiled, purring.

~Slowly, gently, night unfurls its splendour.

Grasp it, sense it, tremulous and tender..

Turn your face away from the garish light of day;

Turn your thoughts away from cold unfeeling light...

And listen to the music of the night.~

Rainpaw had half expected Webpaw to take offense to her words and leave. There weren't many that would stick around to take a tongue lashing from a cat that wasn't even in their clan. but then again Webpaw wasn't like most cats, he was knowingly and willingly breaking the warrior code. For what? To see her, a she-cat from another clan? but when the tom rose to his paws, and padded off Rainpaw thought for sure he was leaving. That he'd had his fill over her, that he was finished. And it kind of almost hurt she realized. but then the tom leapt only to the stone platform that sat in the water between the two clans. Puzzled Rainpaw had followed after him to the water's edge, shivering when the chilly water licked her toes once more. Reminding her again how cold she was, and all for what?

Huffing, her attention is caught when Webpaw calls out to her from the platform. She gives him a look that would of wilted flowers if that was possible. " I assure you I can handle myself." She says tartly to the tom. Waiting until he moved aside and then bunching her muscular limbs. She launches herself over the water and lands squarely on the platform beside him. Her mangled jaw held high she lets out a snort. " See." She says waving her tail around high in the air, and turning so she can sit beside him. " Now what in starclan do you have me over here for?" She asks him, ignoring his smile. Her own maw set in a firm line as she eyes those tempting blue orbs of his. Her curly wired haired coat, fluffed up against the cold air that blew off the surface of the murky river. Why am I even over here? She thought again agitated with herself. I Could of taken the chance and gone home.... Well at least he isn't on Midnightclan territory any longer. She thought, eyeing the stone platform that sat upon momentarily. It was technically owned by both clans making it neutral territory. And even if she was unaware at that moment, this factor caused her to relax slightly.

"I see you're a very capable, she-cat, Rainpaw. You must have a good mentor," the white tom purred as Rainpaw cleared the jump, her chin high in a show of victory. He anticipated a swipe to his ears from her, something he'd somehow grown used to as well. Very strange of him, don't you think?

Now...show her. Webpaw moved away from the wiry MidnightClan apprentice, instead padding over to the centre of the Platform, where he had been waiting for her not too long ago. There was a strange shallow dip in the stony surface, smooth and soothing to lie and bask in when the sun shown brightly during a chilly morning at any time of the seasons. While Webpaw had not been here often enough to experience it himself, the Clan elders sure did a decent job of making the young warriors and apprentices wish as such! but right now, it wasn't the warm patch of sunlight he was going to look for. I have something better. He took his place in the dip, curling his black-tipped tail loosely around his black paws.

Muzzle lifted to the sky, he uttered a silent prayer to his warrior ancestors as they blinked at him curiously from Silverpelt. It's a burden to have a mate from an enemy Clan, I understand that...but some of you have done it. For the sake of love. For the sake of teaching us to follow our hearts. He narrowed his eyes. Some of the stars seemed to be glowing brighter, as if in some response. Anger? Regret? ...Understanding? It shouldn't be the last one; the Clans' ancestors had always taught them to abide by the warrior code. Webpaw's sky blue eyes were darkened by the glistening gloom of the night, and it made him remember about the impatient-looking she-cat over by the edge.

He smiled at her, a soft and tender smile. "Have you ever just sat by yourself, in the dead of night, and listened to the forest? It has a beautiful voice...quite like someone I now know." One black forepaw dusted the space next to him, though he made no effort to hide the slight amusement in his eyes and whiskers as he did so; the little things about Rainpaw were beginning to make mark in Webpaw's heart. Her silver tabby fur was touched by the moonlight again, making it glow and give her the appearance of a starry warrior from StarClan, with blazing yellow eyes that commanded respect...and adoration. "The skies too...it's beautiful where we are. You can see the giant ribbon of stars, our ancestors, stretching across this dark coat of sky that hands above us every night when we close our eyes in sleep..."

The dreams he had of Rainpaw filtered back into his memory, and he breathed in the scent that wreathed around his rather large frame. Ah, that one scent that had led him to his crazy trespassing adventure into MidnightClan territory, to find the one cat whose signature lulled him into beautiful, calm slumber. Would they be able to have this work out, and not get caught? Oh, how he wished so..

"Some cats can grow fond of things rather easily," he commented vaguely, tilting his eyes back to the starry sky - the stars were twinkling, though one or two seemed to have...no, there were just too many to pay attention to. "...I wonder how's the view from up there. It must be nice to see your Clan, your kin...from such a high point, like a mountain or something. Huh. How would I end up joining them? Drowning? Ironic!"

Here, he laughed. A soft, almost frightened laugh.

Rainpaw's eyes shimmer eerily in the glow of the stars, her chest puffing a little at his words. " Why of course." She says, waving her short tail through the air, as if to brush his words away. " Midnightclanners are the best ya know." She adds a hint of teasing in her voice. How could Webpaw honestly believe that his clan of fish brains was better than hers? Or did he know better? She was unsure but before she could ponder his thoughts further he had moved away.

Blinking her dark yellow gaze, Rainpaw turns to watch the tom. As she had before she kept her face to him at all times. Having been taught to never turn her back to her enemies. But was Webpaw her enemy? A nagging voice asked from deep in her thoughts. Of course he is! She snaps at herself, her tail lashing some to show her agitation at her own thoughts. Suddenly she is torn from her internal battle when Webpaw speaks. Her eyes narrow and she lets out a huff rolling her eyes. " No I was too busy doing useful things... like resting for the next days duties." She snips, padding over and taking the offered spot. Whilst ignoring his comment on her voice. She finds herself flopping down beside the splotched apprentice like he was an old friend. That is just what he is.... she thought. JUST a friend, she told herself stubbornly. but then why did being so close to the blue eye'd tom send her heart into a frenzy?

Again Webpaw spoke, and Rainpaw found herself watching him. Watching the way the stars blazed in his blue eyes, and how the moon's glimmer lit up the white bits of his fur so they gleamed like the stars themselves. It was very distracting, and made Rainpaw lash her tail once more. Choosing this time to eye the sky that Webpaw had admired mere moments ago. Noticing the lack of clouds in the starry sky did not help Rainpaw's internal battle. Shouldn't starclan be furious by now? She wondered until Webpaw's voice broke through her thoughts again. " I guess It's okay....." She says begrudgingly to him. Though in reality she found it just as amazing. " Hard to believe that their really up there." She adds her tone slightly softer than before. Feeling his eyes on her, she looks back to him. Her dark gaze looking into his blue ones with a hard glare. Trying to hide any emotions that may find their way into them. " Yeah like you...." She grumbles at him, her eyes falling to her paws. She licks one of her paws as he continues speaking.

Shivering involuntarily at the idea of being way up in the sky Rainpaw, covers it up by nodding. " Pshhh knowing you probably." She remarks at his last words, letting out a small laugh of her own. " More likely cause you wondered yourself onto another clan's territory and got yourself killed." She points out, mangled jaw tilted to the side as she eyes him. Trying not to think about him dying. Because she knew it would hurt to lose this tom. " but who knows maybe Starclan gives all dolts special protection since they know they'll go off and do mousebrained things." She adds teasingly.

For a few heartbeats, Webpaw didn't hear all of Rainpaw's words. He was busy with his own thoughts, delving into them much deeper than he was used to, sifting through strange memories and thoughts that had been pushed to the back of his mind in the current days of his life. He recalled the games he played with his siblings in and out of the nursery, recalled the mischief he was up to you as he pounced on unsuspecting warriors' tails, recalled the day he was given his apprentice ceremony, to the cheers of StormClan and the eyes of his parents that glowed with utmost pride as he stood shoulder to shoulder with his littermates. Those memories were precious.

He lifted his chin to the sky, watching the twinkling lights that dotted the its splendour in multitudes. Each one was a StarClan warrior, as generations of cats had told them when they grew up in the nursery. The warriors of StarClan watched over their living kin and Clanmates from the endless paradise in the afterlife, protecting them from the incoming dangers by sending them omens and all that, to warn them all. The thought that deceased cats could do such a thing... Webpaw wondered what it would be like if one of his own family went to join them, to watch them as all their ancestors had. Would they approve of this development between him and Rainpaw? Would they? You're not angry, StarClan? He called out silently to the bright moon, untouched by clouds; it was very strange for the moon NOT to be covered in this consequential action.

"-maybe StarClan gives all dolts special protection since they'll go off and do mousebrained things," Rainpaw's voice penetrated his thought bubble, and he blinked his blue eyes, settling them on Rainpaw. She had that teasing glint in her dark yellow gaze, and...oh, was that the beginnings of a smirk on her face?

"Special protection, hm? So.. Let's say I decide to jump into the river right now, and NOT swim," he took some steps towards the edge of the Platform and leaned over for a look. "Will StarClan protect me from the death of drowning? Or punish me for...well...b-breaking the warrior code?"

Without thinking twice, he had blurted the thought that nagged at him, that this forbidden relationship was just testing the patience of his ancestors who only sat from the skies and watched, waiting for the opportune moment to punish the splotched apprentice. but that's murder! The warrior code forbade the Clans from killing other cats without reason; even if there was reason, it was dishonourable to use it as a tool for victory in battle. It was not right, whether living or dead - the warrior code bound them all.

Webpaw realised his tail tip was twitching nervously a little too late. Snorting, he slapped a paw down on it, withholding a wince of pain as the contact pinned it down to the stone surface. Black paw on black tail. Blending seamlessly together although they were two different body parts with different functions. Yet, they worked together. He flicked an ear, glancing up at the sky again as the gentle wind rustled the trees and undergrowth around them; a quiet symphony of nature began to whistle melodiously, a lovely haunting tune that seemed to be heralding something. The cold wind nipped him in the neck, and he gave a startled look at Rainpaw.

Please tell me I'm not rushing this, was all he thought to himself as his mouth ran dry. "Music of the night... Er.. Rainpaw, I, uh..."

Uh oh. He was getting too nervous to say whatever it was he wanted.

Rainpaw was listening to Webpaw's reaction to her words. Noticing the way the stars twinkled in his charming blue eyes. She blinks her dark gaze rapidly, her ears flickering some as she cleared those thoughts away. He's your enemy, he's your enemy, she thought to herself repeatedly in the hopes the idea would stick. but the starpelt was void of all clouds, and their was nothing and no one there to tell her what to do. She could feel herself slipping into a dangerous frame of mind, scrabbling to hold onto the idea of the warrior code. but it was hard for her to remember why it was so wrong to like cats of other clans. What was the big deal? Yeah he smelled like a pile of fish and he had a sworn oath to another leader but were they really that different?

Blinking Rainpaw suddenly notices Webpaw standing and her attention returns to his words. Her eyes narrowing and she growls eyes flashing at the tom. Reaching out a paw she yanks on his tail to pull him away from the edge of the water. " You dolt! " She snarls, rising to her own paws and glaring into his blue eyes with fury. " I didn't tell you to try an get yourself killed!" She exclaims, her tail lashing. " Honestly I don't know how you've made it this far!" She huffs, her mangled jaws parted in a hiss of frustration with the tom. Feeling assured he was no longer going to leap into the river, she settles back into a sitting position to watch the tom. Her agitation with him still clear in the depths of her yellow eyes.

After a brief and awkward silence he speaks again. Rambling about the whistling of the wind through the trees. She doesn't pay much attention her mind still playing the terrible thoughts of what would of happened if he'd jumped into the river and not tried to swim. " Hm?" She says voice tart. " Speak up..." She adds shaking her head some to clear it and shivering in the cold breeze. She sorta wished he'd come back and sit beside her. At least then she wouldn't be so cold!

The yank on the tail did hurt, and it sent a fluttering emotion throughout his entire body, filling him with a strange sense of affection of love as he was confronted by the blazing yellow eyes of Rainpaw, who chided him for attempting to jump into the river for no good reason. Yes, how did I make it this far? You could have clawed and bitten me to death for all we care... but perhaps that was it. Rainpaw cared for him. The silver tabby cared for him even though he was from an enemy Clan, trespassing onto her territory. She cared for him despite her anger, instead choosing to help clean up the wounds on his muzzle when she had caused it. Rainpaw of the rival MidnightClan cared for the splotched dolt of StormClan called Webpaw.

"Speak up..." Rainpaw meowed, shaking her head.

And now here he was, looking like a naughty kit who'd just been caught playing around in the leader's den, his black paws pawing at the smooth surface, his muzzle lowered in slight embarrassment. How would Rainpaw take his confession? Would she glare at him, and call him crazy and whatnot? It was likely, considering her behaviour in the time they've spent together. but what about the side of Rainpaw whom he hadn't really met yet? What would that side say? Webpaw blinked at her, admiring her beautiful pelt that glowed in the moonlight; he wished dawn would never arrive, for he wanted to spend every moment in the presence of this other apprentice, drinking in her calming scent.

Wordlessly, he sat back down next to Rainpaw, his white pelt brushing against her silver-white one. "Thanks for not ripping me to shreds when I first came. I'm pretty sure you really wanted to, since I was being such a mouse-brain." He watched the surface of the river as it flowed steadily and quietly along its course, murmuring a soft song in the peace and serenity of the neutral territory between StormClan and RiverClan. They could be together in secret for all they cared. Webpaw really wanted that to be so. Unaware of the movement of his tail, the black-tipped tail laid itself over Rainpaw's tabby one, as he breathed out his next words, "I...love...you, Rainpaw.."

Suddenly after a brief silence, Webpaw moved back to sit beside Rainpaw. His smooth splotched pelt brushing against her curly, slightly wiry one. The action sent shivers up her spine, and no matter how much she wanted to pull away she couldn't. She was trapped by the emotions swirling in her head. Though she told herself it was because she was cold and needed the body heat. Remaining frozen at his side, Rainpaw's narrowed eyes travel to his blue gaze as he speaks once more.

" Yeah well you were lucky." She mumbles, her eyes flickering away from his and at the river. Why hadn't she ended that fight? Why hadn't she chased the tom off and gave him what he had coming? Had it been out of sheer mercy? Or had some other emotion held her back from hurting the handsome splotched apprentice who sat at her side? She doesn't have long to contemplate the matter however cause of what happened next. Before she knew what was happening the tom's tail was laying over her short one, and words she never thought she'd hear a tom say were tumbling from his maw. ' I love you Rainpaw.'

Waves of shock hit the she-cat like a brick wall. She couldn't move, she couldn't breath and she sure as hell couldn't speak. Her dark yellow eyes stared at Webpaw like she didn't know who he was. Her emotions twisting inside her like a knot. This is wrong! A voice said in her head. This is so so so wrong! He is Stormclan and I'm... I'm Midnightclan. We don't mix, but we especially don't fall in love.... right? Confused beyond anything else, Rainpaw struggled for words. Something the feisty feline rarely ever struggled to find. " This isn't...." she starts her voice lacking it's normal tartness. " Webpaw we can't..... I can't." She says shaking her head as if to clear it, and giving him a pained expression. Finding her mobility again she leaps to her paws, and pulls from the tom her head still shaking her eyes filled with confusion. " Why did you have to do that!" She adds trying to push anger into her words, to push him away. Maybe then these feelings would fade. " Why couldn't you just...just leave well enough alone!" She hisses, her gaze almost showing hurt. Turning away she leaps back to the Midnightclan bank. She had to escape him, she had to get herself as far from this tom as she could. Because if she didn't she would surely make some terrible mistake.

Like give in to her feelings...
